Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at the Cathedral of St Joseph Collection

February is St Lambert’s month to supply necessary items to the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at the Cathedral of St Joseph.  We ask you to take a slip with an item listed, purchase the item and return it to the brown wooden box in the East Foyer no later than February 25th! Gift cards should be dropped off in the Parish Office (Please NO Checks).

The following is an excerpt from their website:

Our Mission is the adoration to Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist. Each Sister has her turn for adoration, day and night, in front of the Blessed Sacrament where we continually pray for the intentions and needs of all humanity, especially those who daily send to us their prayer requests, and all members of the Diocese of Sioux Falls which has become our home.”   To submit a prayer request to the Sisters, go to:  www.perpetualadorationsisters.org.

FORWARD IN FAITH – UPDATE

Due to everyone’s prayerful contemplation and generous contribution the Forward in Faith Capital Campaign was a success and from that the next stage, construction, can begin.

Construction begins at Ash Wednesday and the outcome will be revealed with a return procession on Palm Sunday.  Please take a few moments to watch the following video as Fr. John shares how we continue to move together, Forward in Faith.

Then scroll down to see how many hands make light work.  Thanks to the 100 people who made this process almost seem too easy.

The church is empty but our hearts are full! Forward in Faith!

———-The following information was provided at the onset and during the campaign phase——–

The Forward in Faith Capital Campaign is an opportunity for all of us to care for our parish home, St. Lambert.  Like any home, our Parish home is in need of repairs and additional beautification.

Thanks to everyone that prayerfully considered and contributed to the achievement of our financial goals.  Now the exciting portion of the initiative continues as repair and beautification projects proceed.  Some projects have been started and completed such as the HVAC upgrades that most of us don’t see but can feel and appreciate.

The updates within the Church will be starting soon:
– Construction will be performed during the Lenten season
– Masses will be held in the gym at that time
– Return procession will be on Palm Sunday

– New pews, railing, tabernacle stand will be stained the current color of the celebrant and deacon chair
– Brick pillars on the side walls will be painted the color of the ceiling rafters

For additional information on the initiative take a moment to watch the following video, read the attached brochure and Q&A.

Pre-School through 6th Grade:  The Family Formation program is used for this age group.  Parents and children meet once a month for 90 minutes.  Children go to an age appropriate classroom for their lesson while the parents meet to learn about a topic on the monthly lessons.  Childcare is available for children under the age of 4.  A packet of home lessons is handed out and the parents teach the next three lessons at home.  We will have a Parent Meeting on Sunday, September 10th at 6:00pm.

High School Curriculum:  All students in 9th-12th grades will attend the large group gatherings once a month on Wednesday evenings.  We also have Y Disciple groups for any student who is interested.  Y Disciple is a discipleship program for youth who desire to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ.  The groups consist of 5-8 youths and 2 adult leaders, and meets weekly.  We will have a Parent/Student information night on Wednesday, September 20th at 7:00pm.  At that time students interested in discipleship will be able to commit to a group.  Students who are not quite ready to commit will continue to attend the monthly large group events designed to move them toward discipleship.

7th & 8th Grade:  7th and 8th graders will meet Wednesdays from 6:15pm-7:30pm in small groups, and also attend the large group gatherings once a month.  Students in 7th or 8th grade who feel they are ready for discipleship may contact me and we will discuss the options.

Youth Rallies: The combined High School and Junior High Youth Rally is on Saturday, OCTOBER 21ST in Brookings.  This is an amazing discipleship event that I encourage every student 7th-12th grade to attend.  Scholarships are available.  Adults are NEEDED to attend as chaperones as well.  You won’t regret it!

Volunteers are Needed:  We are in need of more than 50 volunteers in order to provide quality programs for our youth. A parent volunteer form is on the back of the Faith Formation Registration Form.

Faith Formation fees for catechists families are ½ of regular fees.
