WEEKDAY MASSES
Monday through Saturday – 8:30am
|
As Pope John Paul II reminded a group of young pilgrims, “It is not enough to be Christians because of the Baptism received or because of the historico-social conditions in which you are born and live. As you grow in years and culture, new problems and new requirements of clarity and certainty come into consciousness. It is then necessary to set out in a responsible way in search of the motivations of your own Christian faith. If you do not become personally aware and do not have an adequate understanding of what must be believed and of the reasons for this faith, at a certain moment everything may inevitably collapse and be swept away, in spite of the good will of parents and educators.” Pope John Paul II, address, 24 March 1979. Through the laying of hands and anointing, Bishop Swain called forth the fullness of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit on those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend. Let us pray that these young men and women will courageously witness to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church to a world that is in such desperate need. Special thanks to Jerry Johnson and Theresa Wallace for their dedication and formation of the confirmation students. Fr. King’s brother, Michael, passed away on January 23rd. Fr. King has returned to Ireland for the funeral and to be with family. He will be back in the parish on February 10th. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Michael King and for his family.
